Developing novel drug delivery systems to modulate immune functions for cancer/infectious diseases/inflammatory diseases treatment

The meng Lab is particularly interested in engineering new drug delivery systems to deliver biomacromolecules such as proteins and nucleic acids that modulate immune functions to fight cancer, autoimmune and infectious/inflammatory diseases.

Engineering bioactive materials for drug delivery

In the majority of cases, drug carriers constitute more than 90% fractions of the drug formulation. In the context of immunotherapy, these carriers may be constructed with immunostimulatory materials to leverage the pharmacological activities of active drugs. Some carrier materials including cationic polymers, polar lipids, or inorganic compounds have been demonstrated to activate innate immune cells or cause immunogenic cell death. It is of great interest of the lab to design immunoactive drug carriers using immunostimulatory biomaterials.
